Custom Exhibits

The Story

The story begins with you and your community. From our indigenous people – to the very earliest European explorers – to the livyers who further shaped our coastlines, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have been very reliant on wooden boats and their ability to build them. No two communities in the province have the same wooden boat story.

We can help you shape that story. The Wooden Boat Museum of Newfoundland and Labrador has the capacity to document, develop and design customized exhibits preserving your community’s boat building heritage. Communities such as Trinity, Twillingate and Glovertown have had their own unique exhibits developed exploring builders, boats and their uses.

Preservation of the unique wooden boats in our province through professional documentation, including technical elements (lofting) as well as the collection of the intangible cultural heritage associated with the boats can be crafted into a modern exhibit.
